Richard I Leeuwenhart en Eleonora van Aquitanië

Het was in het speciale licht in Zuid West Frankrijk dat een nieuwe geestige, krachtige dicht kunst werd geboren. Deze poëzie was niet alleen krachtig, maar spiegelde met de eigentijdse volkstaal, zonder al de stijfheid van de verleden tijd.

De kunst van de troubadours bloeide bij de hoven van Eleonora en Richard I. Dit is het verhaal van de zangers die samen met hun eigen koningen reden. Zij reisden door de wereld die men toen kende – vanuit Londen via Lissabon en Sicilië naar het Heilige Land.

Michael Dollendorf deed zijn muziekstudies aan de University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor. Hij heeft opgetreden met bekende ensembles, zoals Les Arts Florissants in Parijs, de Smithsonian Chamber Players in Washington, en het Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco.

Aan de Universiteit van Bonn in Duitsland studeerde Michael Dollendorf oude talen aan de Duitse en Engelse afdelingen bij de docenten Manfred Kaempfert, Christoph Cormeau, Monika Unzeitig en Karl Reichl. Michael heeft een veelomvattend onderzoek naar mondelinge poëzie en verhaaltradities gedaan. Zijn programma’s zijn in het Oudhoogduits, Middelhoogduits, Gotisch, Oudsaksisch, Oudengels, Middelengels, en Provençaals.

De belangrijkste beroepsactiviteiten van Michael Dollendorf zijn Duitse heldengedichten, Franse troubadour-liederen, en de werken van de Duitse ‘minnezangers’ Walther von der Vogelweide, Neidhart von Reuental en Oswald von Wolkenstein.

Daarbij begeleidt hij zichzelf op harp, psalterium, lier, vedel en verschillende soorten van draailier.
